Dirk Schenck

Dirk has been a licensed fishing guide since 2006. His love of water began in Pennsylvania, where he spent much of his youth exploring the state’s best whitewater. That passion led him to work as a river guide in both the U.S. and Europe, and eventually to fly fishing and guiding in Pennsylvania, home to some of America’s finest spring creeks and freestone trout streams.

For the past fifteen years, Dirk concentrated his fishing and guiding on the streams of Paradise Valley in Montana and Yellowstone National Park. He now lives in Vermont, where he plies his fishing and guiding skills on the streams and rivers of the Green Mountain State. In addition to guiding, Dirk has instructed at our East Coast fly fishing school for more than two decades.

Dirk studied psychology and counseling at Johns Hopkins and Harvard Universities, though he readily admits that trout sometimes outsmart him. The rest of his time is spent snowboarding, hiking, paddleboarding, and whitewater kayaking.
