The Upper Canyon Outfitters Ranch is nestled in the heart of Montana's finest trout fishing country. We will be leading trips to the ranch during the summer of 2025 to fish the Ruby River (which runs right through the ranch) as well as the Madison, Big Hole, and Beaverhead. Jake and Donna McDonald's family has owned the ranch since 1910, providing true Western hospitality with all of the comforts of home.

The trip will consist of five full days of guided fishing on the Ruby and its tributaries.  Upper Canyon has exclusive access to several private blue ribbon sections of the Ruby in addition to their own water, where you will walk/wade fish for brown, rainbow, native cutthroat trout, and grayling. To ensure the highest quality experience, you will be guided by the ranch's exceptional guides with a maximum client-to-guide ratio of 2:1.  The Ruby and its tributaries are all walk/wade streams with easy access.  If you would like to do a float trip on the Madison, one can be arranged for a one-day upcharge.  Most folks choose to stay on the Ruby due to the great fishing, lack of fishing pressure, and ease of access. The evening presents the opportunity for casting and fly-tying instruction... or kick back and relax! You may even choose to ride horseback one day or go on a guided history tour or wildlife viewing excursion.  All activities are included in the price of the trip.  We also offer programs for non-fishing spouses at a reduced rate.  Please feel free to contact me for details and any other questions you may have.
